Fran Sandham - Talk and Book Signing

Fran Sandham was an editor at Rough Guides for several years and worked in bookselling and in the voluntary sector before that. He has travelled in over fifty countries. He now divides his time between freelance writing and public speaking. He has written for many newspapers, magazines and travel publications including the Sunday Times, the Daily Telegraph, the Observer, Traveller magazine, Adventure Travel, Travel Africa and Country Walking.

Fran took on the challenge of a lifetime, by walking across Africa solo (or at least solo apart from a disastrous donkey), from Namibia's Skeleton Coast to the Indian Ocean near Zanzibar: no backup, no support team, no one to carry his gear, no sponsors, no film crew, no journalists, no fuss, no cheering crowds, and no strings attached. Above all, it had to be on a one-way ticket: no safety nets, no get-out clauses and nothing to fall back on ...

It is a pleasure to welcome Fran to the festival. He will be visiting Bridgnorth Library to talk about this amazing solo trek and to sign copies of his book: Traversa - A Solo Walk Across Africa.
