The Bridgnorth Music and Arts Festival 2010 presents a musical extravaganza, including a Celebrity Charity Auction. The evening will start at 7 p.m. at the Falcon Hotel on Friday 3rd September 2010. All are welcome to join in this very special festival event.

ELizabeth McGovern playing at the Festival with her band Sadie and the HotheadsElizabeth McGovern, 49, started her professional acting career at 19 in her screen debut in Robert Redford's Oscar-winning Ordinary People and followed it up with a remarkable performance in Milos Forman’s Ragtime, together with James Cagney, for which she earned an Oscar nomination.

Many starring roles followed, playing opposite heavyweights like Brad Pitt, Mickey Rourke, Keanu Reeves, Michael Caine and Alec Guinness. Elizabeth may be best remembered for playing Robert DeNiro’s girlfriend in Sergio Leone’s epic Once Upon a Time in America – although it appears DeNiro did not make a favourable impression on the actress. Her latest film roles, both released this year, the $125M blockbuster Clash of the Titans and the controversial but well received Kick-Ass.

Sadie and the Hotheads, started by McGovern, is a new band characterized by original lyrics and a personal, idiosyncratic sound. It's an unlikely line-up: electric guitar, acoustic guitar and bouzouki along with a drum kit played like percussion, and then a percussionist. Oh, and a bass player and backing singer. Elizabeth McGovern is the singer, Steve and Simon Nelson bring their dark and haunting textures along with their ability to create a good old country riff. The band also features drummer Rowan Oliver from sometime folkies Goldfrapp. The overall result is a curiously off-kilter mix, most definitely not just a singer-songwriter with backing. This is very much a rocking band who play a finely-structured, semi-acoustic kind of rootsy pop. There debut album, I Can Wait, is available on iTunes and good record shops.

Also appearing during the evening are the talented and highly rated Country band – The Nelson Brothers. Itinerant musicians and songwriters Simon and Steve Nelson travel the world playing gigs and writing songs; from the Midlands to the Isle of Dogs; the Arizona desert to Sydney, Australia and Amsterdam to Bermuda.
Simon Nelson is a session musician who has played some impressive gigs including the Albert Hall and the O2 Arena! He has shared the stage with such greats as Joss Stone, Ms. Dynamite, Heather Small, Beverley Knight, Des’ree and Paul Jones from Manfred Mann.

Steve Nelson, the other half of the duo, has been equally busy after debut album Hometown in 1993. He was also responsible for the song, Stranger To My Heart which was used during the score of the British thriller, The Innocent Sleep.

Nikki Rous will playing at the Bridgnorth Music and Arts FestivalNikki Rous - http://www.nikkirous.com

Starting off the evening is the wonderfully talented acoustic singer/songwriter Nikki Rous. After training for many years as a classical singer Nikki discovered the acoustic guitar and a new world of music opened up for the artist.
Nikki has had many acclaimed performances alongside various artists such as Supergrass, Roisin Murphy, Nizlopi, The Enemy, The Wombats, The Cribs, Level 42, Nerina Pallott, Miles Hunt (The Wonderstuff), 3 Daft Monkeys, Scott Mathews, Show of Hands, The Pogues, Tom Robinson, Martin Grech and Paddy Casey to name but a few.
